Sensity Systems and Partners to Demonstrate Transformation of Outdoor Lighting Into Powerful Internet of Things (IoT) Platform at LIGHTFAIR

NetSense Partners’ (Cisco, Acuity Brands, Amerlux) Networking and Lighting Technology Demonstration Highlights How Lighting is Key to Smart City Applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – April 29, 2015 – Sensity Systems, the pioneer of Light Sensory Networks (LSNs), today announced that the company along with its NetSense Partners – CiscoAcuity Brands and Amerlux – will demonstrate how city lighting infrastructure is transformed into a distributed sensing platform for Smart City applications, such as smart parking, lighting, retail analytics, and public safety and security. Together, they are illuminating the Internet of Things (IoT) at LIGHTFAIR International 2015 on May 5-7 in New York, in Sensity’s Booth #3057.

A Light Sensory Network is more than a lighting controls system. In an LSN, any LED luminaire, either existing or newly installed, becomes a sensor-equipped, solid-state smart device, with a unique IP address and acts as a node in a broadband network. This smart device is also ready-built to power additional devices, such as video cameras or Wi-Fi access points, enabling IoT services throughout the outdoor environment. Sensity will also demonstrate how any light fixture with a standards-based socket can be retrofitted to become a part of the LSN and satisfy Smart City requirements requested in today’s lighting Request For Proposals (RFPs).

Throughout its LIGHTFAIR booth, Sensity will showcase joint partner solutions that leverage its NetSense platform as a foundational element. Application-specific demonstrations include “Security Without Surveillance,” “Smart+Connected Cities,” “Smart Parking Management,” and more. Demonstrations incorporate video streaming and embedded video analytics, such as object detection and forbidden zone identification. Live demonstrations will show parking and traffic analytics and the capabilities of NetSense-enabled luminaires to improve security and operational efficiency for malls, cities and parking areas. Sensity technology will also be demonstrated in the Acuity Brands Booth #1604 and the Amerlux Booth #903.
