Richard Purcell, CEO of the Corporate Privacy Group
Since the mid 1990s, Richard Purcell has been a recognized expert in information privacy and data protection. He served as Microsoft’s first Chief Privacy Officer, and then became CEO of Corporate Privacy Group, a consultancy dedicated to helping companies and organizations adopt privacy programs that support their strategic goals. He has chaired the TRUSTe board of directors, as well as the DHS Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee.
Purcell also served as a director for the International Association of Privacy Professionals, was a founding member of the Conference Board’s Council of Chief Privacy Officers and served on the FTC Advisory Committee on Online Access and Security. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) with expertise in information privacy and data protection both domestically and internationally. He developed Privacy by 3PT: A Management Model, and ACT: A Privacy Education Model.
